Yamaha have a history dating back to 1987 when it made musical instruments moving onto motorcycle’s in the 1950s and producing their first outboard in 1960 called the P-7
Yamaha Outboards
Yamaha outboard motors come from a long history of the Yamaha Company in Japan. Believe it or not, the company began with a simple repair of an organ in a school. They then began building these among other things, actually focusing primarily on music instruments but also began producing things such as phonographs.
By 1934 a new company president took over and began a long search for new things that the company could do that would help to increase overall sales after searching through everything on the market he decided that the company could readily get into the motorcycle market and gain a market share for the company there and so it began.
Of course as we know, it simply didn’t just stop there but they went on to produce other products as well including Yamaha outboard motors. Like its competitors Johnson and Evinrude, there are a number of sizes and models to choose from despite the fact that the motor is perhaps not nearly so popular as the other two, There is however, still much to be said of the quality of these outboard motors and they certainly perform up to their intended standards.
Once again, the choices to be made when purchasing Yamaha outboard motors is solely dependent on what it’s going to be used for and among other things you have to consider the type of boat it will be used in, whether or not it has to be high speed, or if you want it to be more economical and quieter. Once you know these things the rest gets easy.
You do want to keep in mind though the size of the motor your particular boat is rated for. Anything larger could potentially cause serious damage or injury by making the boat go to fast and possible flipping it among other things, but on the other hand you don’t want something that is too small and will barely move the boat. Doing some research online or even at your local boat shop will be able to secure the answers that you need, and most are eager to help you select just the right model both online and off.
